Through our Catering & Hospitality division, VL Catering, we are redefining the catering and hospitality experience by working with some of Australia’s most respected culinary leaders to deliver unique and customised experiences for our valued clients and guests. 

Partnering with Queensland Ballet and Delia Group, we are working to transform the Thomas Dixon Centre, located in West End, into a vibrant dining and event destination, blending arts, culture, and Brisbane’s culinary scene.

To be part of this exciting journey, VL Catering is looking for an experienced Café Manager to oversee the opening and operation of a brand new café located at the Thomas Dixon Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Café Manager who thrives in a busy fast paced environment to join our team.

The key responsibilities of this position are:

  • Manage all aspects of the Café operation
  • Actively engage with customers to enhance their food and beverage experience
  • Provide leadership and direction to the café team, to ensure a high quality, consistent and efficient operation
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and effectively communicate these procedures to the café team
  • Provide job specific training to the café team
  • Order, manage and accept delivery of all items required for the café operation
  • Manage the café bookings process
  • Develop rosters to ensure that both operational and financial needs are met
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, and service
  • Continually look at opportunities to improve the café experience for customers
  • Collate and prepare timely and accurate sales, financial and operational reports
  • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, food handling and WHS requirements

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 6 months previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

The successful applicant should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous management experience in a busy café environment
  • Strong barista skills essential
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate essential
  • Excellent personal presentation, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Tertiary qualifications in hospitality or similar discipline highly regarded

In addition to the above criteria, attention to detail, a customer focus, high levels of energy, willingness to work flexible hours across a 7 day roster and a positive ‘can do’ attitude, is what is required to successfully undertake this position.
